Sunday Mornings

 

The CROSSWALK is Bible-based fun for kids three years to grade five.  We use age-graded
learning groups to offer biblical instruction and spiritual formation in an exciting,
interactive and relationship based setting.  We lay down a spiritual foundation
that, in God’s timing, will guide a child into relationship with God through Jesus Christ. 

The good times begin at 9:10 am when children and leaders interact while playing games
in small groups. Children are free to choose any activity that interests them, from or chess,
to memory games or crafts. 

 

Bible teaching begins at 9:25 with a five minute “check-in” time of sharing in small groups. 
The Bible lesson is presented by gifted teachers to a large group consisting of two grades. 
Drama, story telling, object lessons, media and interactive learning keep the kids eager
to see what comes next. Age-graded small groups provide a time for kids to process
the learning of the day, form relationships and share personal experiences, concerns
and prayer requests. 

 

SIXTH GRADERS meet in their own classroom.  Biblical instruction, spiritual formation,
and discussion of issues unique to preteens make this an ideal community within
which sixth graders may grow in faith and prepare for the teenage years.

 

Our NURSERY provides a safe and loving environment where children six weeks to three
years of age encounter the love of God through his people, allowing parents to worship
and attend spiritual formation groups with confidence and peace of mind.

 

Beginning at two years of age, children enter a program of age-appropriate bibilical
learning where simple stories and activities nurture the developing faith of our youngest
children. The nursery operates during both the 9:25 and 10:55 worship services.

 

FAMILY WORSHIP at 10:55 am is enhanced by a children's bulletin and a "worship bag"
containing items that keep hands busy as the mind and heart absorb the worship
experience. Use of media screens and great praise music make this a great opportunity
for kids to learn how to worship in the community of faith. 

 

Wednesday Evenings

 

WEDNESDAY NIGHT ALIVE!  A meal is served for the whole church family from 
5:30-6:15 p.m. each Wednesday during the school year. From 6:30-8:00, children

A Wednesday evening is paced with fun, games, solid Bible teaching and scripture
memory. Kids use their Bibles in small groups each week and enjoy singing and
engaging lesson review activities. Creataive large group teachers and loving small
group leaders keep kids coming back each week. Nursery care is available for
children who have not yet started kindergarten.

           

 

Our CHILDREN’S LIBRARY features over 1000 Christian books and videos. Many
titles providing parenting support are also included. Each spring a "book shower"
provides new materials and keeps our library current. 

 

Special Events

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is held each year during the last full week of June. 
West Hills is transformed into an array of exciting learning sites where children
experience a week-long adventure in Christian nurture. Sessions are from
9:00-12:00 for four-year-olds through sixth grade. Children from West Hills and
the community are welcomed to join us for great music, awesome crafts and games,

Early each December we present a  CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. All Crosswalk
children may participate in the choir. Children audition for parts in the play and for solos.
Other special performance opportunities may also be available.
