Short-Term Mission Teams
Why Short-term Mission?
The mission of West Hills Church is “To call and nurture individuals into a community of missional disciples, living a relational lifestyle, giving an incarnational witness.” To be missional disciples we must participate in God’s mission throughout the world. In order to do this West Hills has developed relational mission partnerships. These partnerships allow us to experience God working through his people in many different places. Short-term mission trips are strategically designed to serve the global church by
identifying and equipping West Hills' leaders to take West Hills' members to serve alongside partner churches and ministries.
At West Hills we believe that participating on a short-term mission team is one of the finest ways to grow in our faith. We commission and send three to five teams a year to our local, domestic and international mission partnerships. Trips are usually between seven and fourteen days and teams are required to participate in pre-trip training and team building.
Philosophy of short-term mission teams at West Hills
In order for a short-term team to be effective, four things must be present on every short-term mission experience. The individuals on the trip should:
1. Understand the trip as an expression of the Mission of God as presented in Scripture.
2. Experience on the trip our church's commitment to a relational lifestyle by: the trip being a small group; the broader church joining with those who travel; calling those we go to into a partnership of equals
3. The trip is to be an incarnational witness of our faith.
4. The individuals on the trip seeing this as a part of their larger journey with Christ through: finding a call to go; being open to God on the trip; listening for the continued call of God upon their return; sharing what they have found with the larger church.

DATES DON'T WORK?
Schedules can sometimes be crazy for an individual, much less for a group of people desiring to go on a short-term mission trip together. For a group of five or more people committed to serving on a short-term mission trip, but can't find a trip that works, there can still be an option.
Please contact Caitlin to learn about the possibilities of scheduling a trip with one of our mission partners.
