Have you ever wondered why people climb mountains? Mountains are almost always in the middle of nowhere and you have to pack many things before you go. Once you get there you have to start your climb up and slowly but surely make it up the mountain. Its tiring and the higher you get the less oxygen there is, and makes many people feel sick and dizzy. Its not going to be a short journey either, it takes HOURS!! With all these negative aspects of climbing up a mountain, why do people still do it?
The reason is because once you reach the top, there is no better view and no better feeling. Looking down from the top of a mountain is probably my favorite feeling in the world. The beauty around you is in a 360-viewing angle. Being at the top makes the journey up all worthwhile.
The same is true for the Christian faith. It’s not always “fun” to say no to the things your friends are saying yes to. Its not always a ticket to be the “popular” kid in school. It might be tough to get up and go to church on a Sunday morning when all you want to do is stay in bed just a few hours longer. But the truth is, being a Christian is worth it. Just like climbing up a mountain isn’t always the fun part, but once you reach the top, it’s the best experience of your life. Have a relationship with God and being able to feel Him in your life is worth the climb up. As long as we have the right perspective, the climb isn’t so bad either!
